The 27th of September is the feast day of St Baruc. The man they named Barry after. To commemorate him and the birth of our town, Vale Foodbank are running a pilgrimage walk. It will start at the former Abbey at Llancarfan and will end at the remains of St Barucs Chapel on Barry Island. All along the route, history experts and storytellers will bring to life all the local history of the places we will pass through. We will show you castles and forts you never knew existed and talk about events that happened there that will blow your mind. Then finish up on Barry Island for food and refreshments.

And you are invited to join us.

There is a serious side to this event as well. Donations to Vale Foodbank have decreased by over 15% in the la

st year and we badly need to raise more funds to support us in out work of providing food parcels for people in crisis in the Vale. All funds raised on this event, above what it will cost us to organise, will go directly to paying for food parcels.

We also want to spread the message of the need to stamp out poverty in our communities altogether. This event will provide an opportunity to raise awareness of the needs and the potential solutions. It will also act as a mark of our commitment to making it happen.

So come along and join us. You can buy your ticket on this link below:
