About our foodbank
Here is an introduction to our many projects.
The Vale Foodbank opened in September 2011, with one Foodbank centre in Barry. Since then we have expanded throughout the Vale of Glamorgan so that we now have 8 centres to distribute emergency food parcels into the community. Our Foodbank is a project founded by local churches, working together towards stopping hunger in our local area. The Foodbank relies on donations of food from individuals, churches, schools and other organisations.
But we do so much more than give out food parcels.
Through our participation with the community we tackle the causes of hardship in our communities and empower local people. This includes:
- Participation discussion workshops
- Sewing group
- Our links with the local probation team
- Cookery and kitchen-craft workshops
- Community garden
- Craft table
- Weekly Connect Community Cafe
- Organising and campaigning
